- The twelve Global Series teams play Test matches home and away over seven weeks, four to six each, mostly as short tours. There is no table, no final and no winner: every match stands on its own, and results feed the world rankings. The Global Series returns each year from 2026 to 2028, between the 2025 and 2029 Rugby World Cups.
Who gets in
The WXV Global Series has no table and no champion, so nobody qualifies for anything and there is no final. The twelve teams are the Six Nations sides, the Pacific Four sides, Japan and South Africa.
Titles are won elsewhere on the calendar: the Six Nations and the Pacific Four Series each crown the top of their table, and the World Cup, next played in 2029, crowns the world champion.
