About

The FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup is the world championship for national teams, played every four years. The 2026 edition is in Berlin from September 4 to September 13, with 16 countries and 36 games in ten days.

Team USA has won the last four editions, most recently Sydney 2022, and arrives as the defending champion. The WNBA pauses its season for the tournament, so many of its players appear here for their countries.

In the United States every game airs on TNT, truTV or HBO Max; in Canada TSN and RDS hold the rights.

Format

Sixteen teams are drawn into four groups of four and play a round robin inside their group.

Group winners go straight to the quarterfinals. Second and third place in each group play a qualification game for the remaining quarterfinal spots, and fourth place is out.

From the quarterfinals on it is single elimination: quarterfinals, semifinals, a third-place game and the final.
